The Johnstown Community and Building a Sense of Belonging

A Guide to Johnstown, Colorado

Whether you’ve lived in Johnstown for years, or are one of the many newcomers to this lovely town on Colorado’s northern Front Range, a sense of belonging in your community is incredibly important. Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities for community connection when you live here.

Feeling connected to where you live, work, and play improves life dramatically. It’s easier to feel motivated, happy, and live a healthy life, for starters. With all of that in mind, here's our guide Johnstown, Colorado.

The history of Johnstown, Colorado

Johnstown’s past is rooted in farming and agriculture, and evidence of that past remains in places like the Historic Parish House and Museum (which is also the original home of Johnstown's founder). The town didn’t start growing rapidly until after 2010, when growth along the Front Range exploded.

Johnstown’s central location

One of the best things about living in Johnstown is its proximity to other cities and towns along Colorado’s Front Range. Charming Greeley, growing Loveland, and vibrant Fort Collins are all nearby. You can also get to Denver in approximately one hour (traffic on I-25 permitting, of course).

Hiking, camping, and more near Johnstown

Opportunities for outdoor recreation are plentiful here. In just over an hour, you can be driving up Highway 14, alongside the Cache la Poudre River. You’ll find fishing, white water rafting, easy access to backcountry hiking and camping, and so much more.

Lory State Park is even closer, and you can be there in less than an hour. It’s a great spot for horseback riding, canoeing, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities.
