Teen Counseling and Therapy in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Windsor, CO

Foundations Counseling in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Windsor offers teen counseling with a focus on a variety of issues affecting adolescents. It can be hard to tell whether your teenager is just experiencing normal emotional growing pains or if certain behaviors are warning signs that warrant professional help.

During adolescence, young men and women begin to mature and shift their self-image from one based on the perspective of a child to one based on the perspective of a young adult. At this stage, teenagers begin to form an identity that will define them for a lifetime.

Teen counseling is a highly specialized field, and we strongly recommend that when you pick a counselor for your teenager you choose a therapist with ample experience in this specific area of counseling. Remember, adult therapy and adolescent therapy are not the same thing. For this reason, Foundations Counseling hires counselors who are experienced and adept at working with adolescents.

Some of the issues affecting adolescents include:

  • Grief
  • Identity confusion
  • Drug and alcohol use or abuse
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Eating disorders or body image issues
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adolescents
  • Bipolar disorder (severe mood swings)
  • Defiance, disobedience, argumentativeness
  • Promiscuous behavior, teen pregnancy
  • Self-harm, teen cutting
  • School problems, underachievement, fighting at school
  • Sexual assault or sexual abuse
  • Illegal behavior or trouble with the legal system

Keaton has been great! I feel real value with his counseling and guidance. I am disappointed that our Flex card will not work at your office especially since you do not take insurance.

My counselor was awesome! I can directly credit her for the improvement of my life. Her direction was always non-judgmental but also guiding and let you come to your own conclusions. The building it is in has an awesome tree and live plants growing in it which I appreciated. The chocolate while waiting was also a plus.
