Depression Counseling in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Windsor, CO

Foundations Counseling in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Windsor offers depression therapy and counseling to help individuals restore their routine and relationships, as well as return to a more hopeful frame of mind. We all feel unhappy at times. In fact, depression, or experiencing the “blues,” is a normal reaction to stress and isn’t necessarily a sign that you should speak to a counselor. But when these feelings are severe or prolonged, they can interfere with your daily life, relationships, and sense of well-being. Depression counseling can help get you back to a healthy state of mind.

When depressed, you are likely to experience a general lack of interest in everyday activities. You may also find yourself withdrawing from others, experiencing chronic fatigue, or feeling helpless and hopeless. Other possible symptoms include changes in appetite, sleep disturbance, loss of sexual desire, problems with concentration and memory, irritability, anxiety, indecisiveness, suicidal thoughts, and excessive self-blame. Depression counseling will help you gain perspective.

Depression is often preceded by a significant loss or trauma. Other factors such as family history of depression, stressful lifestyle, negative “self-talk” (i.e., taking negative events such as rejection personally vs. “brushing things off”), and the ability to express difficult or painful feelings (rather than keeping feelings inside) can all have an effect on how depressed someone may become.

What You Can Expect with Depression Counseling

Foundations Counseling offers depression therapy in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Windsor. With depression counseling, you can learn healthy ways to cope with your sadness. Our therapists will help you examine the causes and effects of your symptoms and patterns. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is often used to help reprogram unwanted habits of thinking, feeling, and doing. CBT provides clear, structured action steps to help you move past old depressive patterns. Psychodynamic therapy is also useful in working through depression, as this process encourages you to better understand unresolved family issues that may be contributing to negative thoughts and feelings.

Very easy to arrange for a preliminary free consultation. Staff at Loveland office are friendly and professional. It is a safe and non-threatening place to talk and receive actionable advice and counseling for a wide range of personal issues. Sessions do cost a bit but are well worth it in the long run! I always take away a positive idea or action plan after each session with my Councellor. Highly recommended!!!!
